Winter in Gurgaon

December 10, 2008

If you think about it, this has really not been a cold winter so far in Gurgaon/Delhi. Maybe the real cold is yet to come. …phew while write I look out of the window and I can only see fog.

Gurgaon has a lot of commuters coming from and to Delhi and this is a foggy drive for all of them. I can see current temperature at 14 degrees C on Gurgaon.com (www.gurgaon.com/content ) and it is almost 9 30 AM!

Hi Gurgaon! Old enough to say don’t fight

December 4, 2008

Hi friends and citizens of Gurgaon. Last year I had bough a house in Gurgaon, half expecting the prices to rise and half expecting a peaceful suburban living. I am afraid, I am getting none. While my apartment block is barricaded from the chaos of Gurgaon, I still feel trapped in a deal and place, that I did not bargain for – Gurgaon. The solace is that I have a lot of friends in Gurgaon so atleast the weekends are spent partying. Last weekend, I went to this friend of mine in Sector 56, Gurgaon. He had thrown a birthday bash – his birthday was on the Wednesday preceding the Saturday. After a couple of drinks – and four in his case – the conversation veered towards the inevitable : Gurgaon and is nuisances. I quoted an article that I had read at Gurgaon.com…here is the link…  http://www.gurgaon.com/content/?p=265 Its heading says something like this.. ‘Please do not fight after an accident’. The author appears like an old man giving advice to twenty-somethings, yet I could not help but identify with it when I went driving down Gurgaon’s sadar bazaar, the other day. I am compelled to write about this as I feel that this is a reflection of the ethos of Gurgaon and its people – for that matter of many Indian cities – and this is one of the attitudes that are best dropped to sort this city out.
